For Kaplan, the voyage in terms of its Asia-Pacific business and the Singapore business in particular, started in February 2003 when it acquired the Financial Training Company, which was then renamed FTC Kaplan. In May 2005, Kaplan then purchased the Asia Pacific Management Institute or APMI, which then became APMI Kaplan. In 2006, Kaplan Singapore was formed, to put together the combined management and resources of APMI and FTC. In December 2006, both APMI and FTC came together in the new Kaplan City Campus in the Orchard Road district and the Official Opening in April 2007 also marked the official integration of APMI Kaplan and FTC Kaplan (subsequently rebranded as Kaplan Financial in October 2007) with the establishment of Kaplan as a leading brand in the education industry field in Singapore.
