  • About the Programme

    The Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) (Top-up) Degree programme will provide you with the skills needed to practice as a mechanical engineer across a range of industries. You will learn about the fundamentals of engineering design, engineering professional practice, engineering sciences and mathematics.

    For a complete industry-relevant experience*, students will get to spend time at the RMIT University campus in Melbourne, Australia, to gain practical hands-on experience. Students will also gain access to a wide range of state-of-the-art laboratory facilities at the campus linked to the programme, including the Control and Dynamics, Thermodynamics and Vibration laboratories. Furthermore, students will benefit from field trips to RMIT’s industry partners^ or a visit to RMIT Advanced Manufacturing Precinct.

    *Students will be responsible for covering the cost of their own travel and accommodation expenses for the  residential visit to RMIT Melbourne.

    Graduation & Degree Awarded

    Students who successfully complete and pass the modules stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) from RMIT University, Australia.

    The Degree will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in Australia.

  • Admission Criteria
    Academic Requirements

    This Degree programme accepts the following qualifications, which includes:

    • A recognised 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or an Advanced Diploma in mechanical, or any closely related engineering discipline*.
    • Any other qualifications and work experience will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by RMIT. Relevant work experience includes engineering practice or technical roles that support engineering practice.
    • Bridging modules are available to applicants who are unable to provide evidence of competence in Engineering Mathematics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids and/or Thermodynamics. Applicants may be offered a conditional offer subject to passing the relevant bridging module(s).

    *Successful applicants are granted module exemptions, equivalent to 2 years of the 4-year programme. As such, all qualifications are assessed in terms of their equivalence to the first 2 years of the 4-year programme.

    English Language Requirements

    Applicants whose first language is not English or the core language of instruction at their home institution is not in English and are not from an RMIT-recognised English speaking country are required to demonstrate a satisfactory level of English language proficiency with IELTS (Academic) of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent.

    The English language entry requirements for the above programme may be updated from time to time in line with RMIT’s English language framework and entry requirement approval processes, by which RMIT publishes revised English language entry requirements and recognised tests on its website.

    In all cases, the final decision on admission to the programme rests with the University.

      The total tuition fee covers university registration, lectures/tutorials/workshops and main assessments such as assignments/tests/examinations/projects (where applicable), programme materials in digital format, Degree (if earned) and transcript.

      The Student Development Fee covers the provision of a comprehensive range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the career and industry-readiness of Kaplan students, such as programmes aimed at improving interpersonal skills, technical and digital skills, as well as career advisory and job matching services.       • Standard Repayment: Pay your monthly instalments (principal and interest) once your loan is disbursed.
      • Partial Repayment: Pay partial instalments for up to 3 years or till the end of your programme, whichever is earlier. Standard monthly instalments (principal and interest) will commence thereafter.
      • Interest Servicing: Pay only interest for up to 3 years or till the end of your programme, whichever is earlier. Standard monthly instalments (principal and interest) will commence thereafter.
