Leadership and People Management for Accounting and Finance Professionals

Accounting and finance professionals have long been respected for their business insights, ethical grounding and ability to contribute to the growth of organisations. To cope with the rapid changes in modern day business, rising expectations and globalisation, professional accountants of the future will need to add further value to their employers and clients through a range of competencies which include not just technical knowledge and skills but also interpersonal behaviours and leadership.

Vision, creativity, intelligence, emotional intelligence, experience and digital capability – all underpinned by strong technical and ethical competencies – are the key skills identified by experts and employers globally as the ‘magnificent seven’ sought after skills and qualities that professional accountants should possess1.

In line with Kaplan Learning Institute’s growing strength and influence in education and the delivery of innovative training solutions, we have developed two Leadership & People Management (LPM) Workforce Skills Qualifications that not only provide a benchmarked leadership development roadmap for accounting and finance professionals but also a structured programme that allows them to gain formal recognition of their competencies within a nationally recognised framework.

These two qualifications are comprised of individual WSQ modules which are specifically aligned with the 7 Professional Quotients to help learners develop the necessary capabilities as they embark on the route to develop a full spectrum of leadership qualities.
