The central objective of the programme is to prepare you, as potential engineering managers and directors, for leadership roles in the management of engineering and technology-based organisations. Accordingly, you will be expected to demonstrate that you can meet the increasing demands by industry, government and the community for knowledgeable, creative and responsible leadership.

In order to achieve this, you will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the many facets of contemporary management and the impact of new technology and technological change on engineering and technology based organisations. You will be exposed to real-world issues, problems and opportunities in areas such as: risk and feasibility studies, managing innovation, systems thinking, quality management, environmental management systems, strategic planning, economic environments, performance management, international issues and technology management.

Successful completion of Bachelor’s Degree with Honours (at AQF8 level or equivalent), in engineering or business discipline with minimum GPA 2.0 (out of 4.0).

Successful completion of Bachelor’s Degree (at AQF7 level or equivalent), in engineering or business discipline with minimum GPA 2.0 (out of 4.0) and with at least two years relevant work experience in engineering or business.

Applicants with GPA less than 2.0, with at least two years’ relevant work experience in engineering or business maybe considered on a case-by-case basis.

In all cases, the final decision admission to the programme rests with the university.

International applicants: A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0, or equivalent.

Each Trimester Session is a 16-week period covering the required programme of study. Each Trimester Session is provided with 36 hours of seminars, taught by the University’s lecturers with local support.

While the Master of Engineering (Management) programme is 100% assignment-based with no exams, all RMIT postgraduate programmes include rigorous assessments.  In addition group and individual projects, group and individual presentations, reports, quantitative analysis and essays are all used at some point during the programmes. For all assessments students receive detailed feedback from the examiner in a standardised format.

Students who successfully complete and pass the modules stipulated in the course structure will be awarded the Master of Engineering (Management) from RMIT University.

The degree will be the same as that awarded to on-campus graduates in Australia.
