Please share your experiences as a student here, and how these experiences have served you well in what you are currently doing?

Lecturers in Kaplan often made lessons very lively as they shared about their personal working experience in the accounting world. The lecture notes were very comprehensive and they provided clear explanation for various accounting concepts and valuable past year papers for me to practice easily.

Kaplan provided me with a truly supportive learning environment that allowed me to fully focus on my studies with a quiet library, clean and tidy study areas and user-friendly MyKaplan e-learning portal.

As a student without prior accounting background or career, it was difficult to achieve my good grades today without the help of dedicated lecturers and well-organised class materials from Kaplan.

Can you tell us what you are working as currently? And how has the ACCA preparatory course benefited you?

I was a Chinese language teacher and after completing my ACCA papers, I finally found a job as an auditor in a local firm.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years after studying at Kaplan?

I feel it’s hard to say what I will be in the next few years. I believe in this saying “走正道,尽人事,待天命”. It means that one has to do what is humanly possible, with integrity and await for destiny to unfold.

For me personally, passing my examinations is just simply beginning of the whole life journey. But to be a true accounting professional, I believe I still need to earn years of experience.

What advice would you give to other Kaplan students who are studying in the same course as you did?

From experience, the timeline for one to prepare for examinations is typically about four months so I would recommend students to have a good plan from the start.

Practicing past year papers after each lessons and comparing them with examiner’s model answers are fundamental for students to understand the logic of the model answers. I felt that students should also invest time to revise frequently for papers which they find difficult to understand.

As an ACCA Prize Winner, please share how you achieved the award and good grades?

I believe that practice makes perfect. And I often reviewed the Kaplan lecture notes frequently to better understand the key theories and accounting and auditing standards. Then I practiced past year papers to better understand how to apply them before heading to examinations.
