Why did you decide to sign up for the preparatory courses for ACCA at Kaplan?

I was looking for an ACCA tuition provider while I was doing my National Service, and I enrolled with Kaplan because it provided evening classes which met my hectic schedule needs.

Please share your experiences as a student here, and how these experiences have served you well in what you are currently doing?

I was often late for classes as I was stationed in a remote camp and it was often really difficult to book out on time for my classes.

However, with the support of excellent Kaplan course materials and dedicated lecturers who were always sincere and helpful, I was able to catch up quickly and not fall behind.

Can you tell us what you are doing currently? And how has the ACCA preparatory course benefited you?

I am currently studying Economics at the University of Cambridge on the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Undergraduate Scholarship.

The ACCA lessons at Kaplan helped deepen my understanding in economic theories which I am now studying, by giving me a more complete understanding of firms’ behaviour. These lessons also helped equip me with important skills in life such as knowing how to best invest my money while I am abroad.

What advice would you give to other Kaplan students who are studying in the same course as you did?

ACCA might seem like a tough qualification because students perceive a need to memorise a great number of theories. However, I would advise students to understand the underlying rationales for various principles of accounting, such as the need to avoid double-counting during inventory valuation.

Applying these simpler and easy-to-remember principles should make studying accounting much easier!

As an ACCA Prize Winner, please share how you achieved the award and good grades?

Smart revision is the key to success; I made full use of all study materials given by Kaplan, including past-year examination questions which were included in the study package.

Attempting some of these past-year questions gave me a better idea of what to expect in the ACCA examinations and was also a great confidence booster for me.
