Accreditation

The Bachelor of Engineering (Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics) (Honours) (Top-up) programme at Kaplan in Singapore is not accredited by any professional organisation.

However, this programme has been developed to align with the Engineers Australia accreditation framework and accreditation will be sought as soon as it is feasible to do so, within the accreditation timelines set by Engineers Australia.

Engineers Australia is the professional body responsible for the accreditation of higher education programmes that prepare students to practise as professional engineers. Once fully accredited, graduates of the programme will be eligible for a graduate membership of Engineers Australia and and receive substantial recognition of competence by equivalent organisations in a number of other countries and regions.

Entry Requirements

Academic Level:

The Bachelor of Engineering (Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics) (Honours) (Top-up) programme accepts the following qualifications:

• A recognised 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or an Advanced Diploma in manufacturing or mechatronics, or any closely related engineering discipline*.
• Any other qualifications and work experience will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by RMIT. Relevant work experience includes engineering practice or technical roles that support engineering practice.
• Bridging modules are available to applicants who are unable to provide evidence of competence in Mechanics of Solids and/or Engineering Mathematics. Applicants may be offered a conditional offer subject to passing the relevant bridging module(s).

*Successful applicants are granted module exemptions, equivalent to 2 years of the 4-year programme. As such, all qualifications are assessed in terms of their equivalence to the first 2 years of the 4-year programme.

English Language Requirement

Applicants whose first language is not English or the core language of instruction at their home institution is not in English and are not from an RMIT-recognised English speaking country are required to demonstrate a satisfactory level of English language proficiency with IELTS (Academic) of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent.

The English language entry requirements for the above programme may be updated from time to time in line with RMIT’s English language framework and entry requirement approval processes, by which RMIT publishes revised English language entry requirements and recognised tests on its website.

In all cases, the final decision on admission to the programme rests with the University.

Delivery

Each trimester session is a 16-week period covering the required programme of study which is taught by a mix of RMIT and local university lecturers.

Assessment & Exams

Assessment methods vary in accordance with the aims and outcomes of a specific topic or programme but frequently involve a combination of in-programme assessment and written examinations.

In addition, essays, group and individual projects and presentations, in-programme tests, quantitative analysis and reports are all used at some point during the programme.

For all assessments except final examinations, students will receive feedback from the lecturer via an online learning portal.

Tuition Fees

The total tuition fee covers university registration, lectures/tutorials/workshops and main assessments such as assignments/tests/examinations/projects (where applicable), programme materials in digital format, Degree (if earned) and transcript.

All fees indicated are inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the prevailing rate. The prevailing GST rate from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023 is 8%. Education Loan

Choice of flexible repayment schemes available to suit your needs:

• Standard Repayment: Pay your monthly instalments (principal and interest) once your loan is disbursed.
• Partial Repayment: Pay partial instalments for up to 3 years or till the end of your programme, whichever is earlier. Standard monthly instalments (principal and interest) will commence thereafter.
• Interest Servicing: Pay only interest for up to 3 years or till the end of your programme, whichever is earlier. Standard monthly instalments (principal and interest) will commence thereafter.
• Flexible repayment tenure of up to 8 years.

Minimum class size: 20 students

Class may commence with fewer students than indicated above, subject to resource availability. In the event of cancellation, you will be notified at least 1 week before the programme commencement date, stated in your student contract with Kaplan, and our consultants will contact you to advise on a backup plan.

Maximum allowed candidature period: 3 years

If a student fails to complete the programme within the candidature period*, they will not be entitled to any recourse or refund.

*Periods of time such as approved leave of absence are excluded from the calculation of a student’s time enrolled.
