I pursued further studies to broaden my strategic and business perspective beyond my technical and engineering background. With extensive experience in project delivery and facilities management, I wanted to deepen my understanding of leadership, finance, strategy, and organisational dynamics to better contribute at senior management and institutional levels.

The Master of Business Administration programme from Murdoch University at Kaplan offered the right balance of academic rigour, practical relevance, and flexibility through online learning. The structured schedules, strong online support, and practical assessments allowed me to continue my studies while managing my work responsibilities and travel. Affordable fees and a reasonable duration were also important considerations in my decision.

The programme has been highly relevant to my role in overseeing major campus development and infrastructure projects. It equipped me to align outcomes with institutional strategy and sustainability goals, while broadening my perspective into areas such as business development, investment evaluation, and strategic planning.

Lecturers played a key role in making the learning experience both relevant and meaningful. Their emphasis on critical thinking, along with their willingness to share real-world insights and provide timely feedback, helped keep me motivated throughout the programme. The leadership module stood out, challenging us with agile, real-world scenarios that reflected the dynamic nature of leadership today.

Overall, the programme has strengthened my leadership credibility and strategic contributions, enabling me to engage more actively in planning, governance, and cross-functional decision-making. I would strongly recommend this programme to professionals seeking growth into leadership roles.

Nurul Farina Binte Mohd Yusof
Facilities Management Executive (Procurement), Health Sciences Authority (HSA)
Bachelor of Business in Business Law and Criminology (Double Major)
Murdoch University Student (2021)

I chose Murdoch University for its reputation and recognition, and because it offers a broad spectrum of attractive and relatively affordable Degree options.

Personally, equipping myself with a Double Major Degree could attract more job opportunities and greater earnings, achievable with the well-rounded knowledge I will gain in this journey with Murdoch.

Pursuing this Degree has also helped me in my previous employment with National Environment Agency (NEA) as an Enforcement Officer, as my Criminology major opened up more paths for me in enforcement and investigation.

As I work full-time while studying part-time, I appreciate that Murdoch University offers flexible timings for their lessons, allowing me a good balance between work, study and other life’s commitments. Lessons in the evening give me ample time to get off work and then tune in to the online classes.

I would recommend Murdoch to others, as it has been a smooth sailing journey for me, and I believe it will continue to be. In addition, Murdoch offers majors that appear distinct from one other, which would help students with separate fields of interests.

Cybersecurity Analyst, Deloitte
Bachelor of Information Technology in Mobile and Web Application Development and Cyber Security and Forensics (Double Major)
Murdoch University Graduate (2023)

I chose to enrol in the Diploma in Information Technology (IT) with Kaplan as I have always been interested in how technology works. Upon graduating from this programme, I knew I had to further my studies to expand my knowledge and decided to enrol at Murdoch University. My Kaplan Diploma granted me exemptions and I could proceed straight to Year 2 of the Degree programme.

Pursuing this Degree has equipped me with niche skills that are necessary to stand out professionally. Some of the lessons applicable to my career include practical cyber security and IT knowledge. Furthermore, I was also taught critical analysis and problem-solving skills and learned how to tackle problems in the real world independently.

I had plenty to learn at the University, and my Degree enabled me to secure my job. In fact, I have recommended Murdoch University to my best friend who will be enrolling in 2023.

Completing a Double Master’s Degree while working full-time in a leadership role was one of my most meaningful achievements. Balancing professional responsibilities with academic commitments was challenging, but through discipline, resilience, and strong time management, I remained focused and persevered.

The partnership between Murdoch University and Kaplan offered a well-structured programme that is suitable for working professionals. Flexible schedules, supportive lecturers, and accessible learning resources made the journey both manageable and rewarding.

The modules on leadership, human resource management, strategic management, and organisational behaviour provided practical frameworks that I could immediately apply to performance management, employee engagement, and problem-solving. These insights equipped me to stay relevant in a fast-changing work environment and to lead with greater clarity and confidence. The knowledge gained through the programme also supported my promotion to Assistant Vice President.

This journey was personally transformative, strengthening my resilience, broadening my perspective, and reinforcing my passion for leadership and service. Alongside my corporate role, I remain deeply involved in community service, grassroots leadership, and youth engagement initiatives. I strongly believe in lifelong learning and using education as a platform to create positive impact.

I would highly recommend this programme and Murdoch University to anyone seeking a relevant and enriching learning experience.

My career journey has been shaped by deliberate transitions across different industries. With a growing interest in technology, I made a conscious decision to upskill and move into the ICT and Cyber Security field. Coming from a background in operations and logistics, this required significant commitment to develop new technical skills and adapt to a highly competitive field.

The Degree provided structure exposure to areas such as computer security, cyber forensics, and system analysis and design, and information security governance. These modules strengthened my ability to analyse systems, understand vulnerabilities, and apply concepts effectively in real-world cyber security implementations.

The curriculum aligns closely with my role as a Cyber Analyst at NCS, allowing me to enhance both my technical and analytical capabilities while contributing more meaningfully to cyber security solutions within public sector and AI-enabled environments.

Before enrolling, I spoke with colleagues who had completed the programme, and their positive experiences, together with the strong technical foundation they demonstrated at work, gave me confidence in its relevance and quality. The flexible programme structure at Kaplan, centralised campus locations, and lecturers with industry experience made it manageable to balance full-time work and studies.

The programme also provided valuable opportunities to connect with peers from diverse professional backgrounds, which enriched the learning experience. Upon completing the programme, I experienced formal progression in both job grade and compensation. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend the programme to working professionals looking to enter or advance in the ICT and Cyber Security field.

Double Masters – Master of Business Administration and Master of Information Technology (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science) (MBA-MIT)
Murdoch University Student (2022)

Murdoch University’s Double Master’s Degree offering was too good to miss. With the same duration in a typical single Master’s programme, I could achieve two such Masters Degrees and proficiency in two domains.

The dual programme is meaningful to current working professionals, as gone are the days when one could be content with strong knowledge in one domain. Now, a Double Masters will give us the needed advantage.

The school offers flexible study options and personalised courses, which are important to me as a working adult with commitments. Having the luxury to personalise the courses lets me manage my time better. For instance, knowing I would be working on a data-related project later in the year, I enrolled in a data course beforehand to prepare myself.

Even with virtual learning (due to the pandemic), there is no compromise on the quality of teaching. The lecturers have a vast knowledge of the subjects and the ability to impart relevant academic and personal experience to students. The programme also encourages class engagement.

One of the most invaluable takeaways from this programme is getting to learn from fellow classmates. You will not find a better place to network and learn from others than in the MBA-MIT programme, as the programme is taken by working professionals, many of whom have years of experience.

My dual Masters programme aside, I had previously graduated with a Degree in Digital Business from University College Dublin, another partner University at Kaplan, which enabled me to progress in my professional career.

Radha Kunasaigran
Co-Founder & CEO, The Niram Collective
Master of Business Administration
Murdoch University 2026 Graduate
(Source: 2026)

I spent nearly a decade in cosmetic science and knew I wanted to build something of my own. While I understood product formulation, I realised I had gaps in business architecture. Pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) felt less like earning a credential and more like giving myself permission to take my ambitions seriously.

As a working professional and a mother to a young child, flexibility was non-negotiable. The part-time structure offered at Kaplan made it possible to study without putting my life on hold. I was working, raising a child, and building a business simultaneously, yet the programme’s flexibility allowed me to work through the material at my own pace without sacrificing rigour. It meant I could integrate learning into my life rather than disrupt it entirely.

Almost everything I built at The Niram Collective was informed by what I was learning in real time, from structuring the business to negotiating partnerships and building a circular supply chain. In 2025, I co-founded The Niram Collective, a circular fashion platform for Indian ethnic wear in Singapore, focused on making sustainable fashion accessible and culturally resonant. That leap would not have happened without the MBA.

Beyond business knowledge, the MBA also gave me credibility. It is not about the letters after my name, but about knowing that I have done the work and that it shows. If you are ambitious, working, and ready to take your next move seriously, this is the right environment to do it.

I came from a non-technical background with limited prior exposure to the field of technology. However, after several years in the workforce, I decided to pursue the Kaplan Diploma in Computer Forensics, which marked the beginning of my transition into the Information Technology (IT) industry. Upon completing the programme, I successfully pivoted into the field and secured a role as an IT Administrator. I subsequently enrolled in the Degree programme with Murdoch University at Kaplan, which has significantly contributed to both my professional growth and workplace performance.

The concepts, methodologies, and practical frameworks taught throughout the programme were highly relevant to my role and directly applicable in real-world environments. They enabled me to develop and propose strategic enhancements tailored to different clients while ensuring alignment with industry best practices. The programme also strengthened my ability to confidently advise clients on their security posture and recommend improvements through a deeper understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, governance, and compliance frameworks.

While pursuing my Degree, I secured a role with my current organisation, which came with a substantial expansion in responsibilities and a 70% increase in salary. In addition, I’m a Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) Leader in Murdoch University, where I mentor and support new batches of students by sharing the technical knowledge and experiences I have gained throughout my academic and professional journey. It has been especially fulfilling to contribute to the learning development of fellow students and support them in areas where they require guidance.

I would highly recommend Murdoch University for its diverse range of programmes and the strong balance between academic theory and practical application. The thoughtfully planned lecture schedules and hybrid learning format were particularly beneficial for me as a full-time working professional. Overall, my experience at Kaplan has been both rewarding and enriching, and I believe it provides an excellent environment for individuals seeking to advance their education and professional careers.

Balancing full-time work and my responsibilities as a father of three while studying for this Degree is an achievement I am proud of. Pursuing further studies allowed me to expand my knowledge and refine my skills, ensuring that I remain adaptable and effective in my field. Personally, Criminology has always fascinated me because it deepens my understanding of human behaviour and justice while strengthening my critical thinking and communication skills. I believe that with knowledge, I can approach my duties with greater empathy and manage complex situations more effectively.

Murdoch University and Kaplan helped make this journey more manageable through evening classes and thoughtfully structured assignments. One module that stood out was Culture, Diversity and Crime. It broadened my perspective by helping me appreciate the diverse worldviews people hold and how these shape their experiences, reinforcing the importance of being sensitive to diversity in both thought and practice. A challenge I faced was the Introduction to Psychological Research Methods module, which demanded independent learning and the mastery of technical concepts. Although overwhelming at first, I overcame it by dedicating extra time to studying beyond the recommended materials and supplementing my learning with additional resources. Ultimately, this experience taught me resilience, discipline, and the value of perseverance.

I especially appreciated the way one of my lecturers incorporated mini games and quizzes into lessons, which made learning enjoyable and reinforced key concepts. Her guidance, especially in improving my writing, had a positive impact on my academic journey.

Dr Paul Chang Zhi Quan
Deputy Medical Director, a HK-listed Medical Group
Master of Business Administration
Murdoch University Graduate (2022)

While previously working as a Physician Lead in a large medical group, I was determined to diversify my career. Instead of limiting myself to a purely clinical role, I wanted to expand my role into one that involves other facets of the Healthcare industry. Hence, I decided to take on the Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Murdoch University.

Not only did this MBA provide me with knowledge about the commercial aspects of the Medicine and Healthcare industry, but it has also given me the confidence to present well and speak with conviction for a more effective pitch of my ideas. While the MBA is just the beginning of my journey to career progression, it has given me the skills to make the right connections.

After attaining my Master’s Degree, I received job offers from other clinic groups who are recruiting for a Physician Lead and Medical Director position. Eventually, I managed to secure a leadership role in Medical Affairs in a pharmaceutical company, which had been my long-term goal.

Wong Vi King
Vice President, Marketing Analytics & Performance Steering, Lazada Singapore, Alibaba Group
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Murdoch University Student (2021)

I had previously completed my Master of Science in Marketing and decided to further fortify my credentials by pursuing a Murdoch University MBA Degree, which will help sharpen my business acumen and broaden my horizons across leadership, finance and strategy domains.

My role requires me to work extensively with C-suite leadership, including the marketing, finance, corporate strategy, human resources and operations teams. My team plays a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s marketing strategy by providing valuable insights to cross-functional teams for performance steering. So, it is a huge plus if I can understand their lingo and appreciate their perspectives. This would allow us to collaborate better and work towards a common goal.

During the MBA programme, I addressed real-world business challenges, which honed my ability to see beyond my role and understand how organisations operate. This also increased my exposure to diverse perspectives on global, social and business issues as I collaborated with peers whose backgrounds, experiences and career goals differ from mine.

Given that I work in a super fast-paced environment, the MBA programme’s flexible schedule and highly relevant course content, that balances theoretical and experience-based learning in both a classroom and ‘real-world setting’, allowed me to complete the programme in a way that was suited to my work commitments. Upon completion of my Murdoch MBA this year, I was promoted to Vice President of Marketing Analytics.

Murdoch University was my choice for postgraduate studies, as the school would provide me with a globally-recognised credential and an enriching university experience.

I decided to pursue this Master’s programme as I have a strong interest in Data Science. It deals with huge volumes of data and uses modern tools and techniques to uncover unseen patterns, derive meaningful insights, and make operational decisions. The programme curriculum is very structured, and its relevance to my current job scope has helped me to add value to my work.

The University provides excellent student support with its online platform, where relevant resources are easily available. For example, I can access the online Murdoch University Library anytime to look up journals and articles for my research. The unit coordinators are also easily contactable via email, should one have any queries on the modules.

Studying at Kaplan also provides me with a flexible study schedule, which is important as I am working full-time. These positive factors were what gave me the confidence to embark on the programme. Undertaking part-time post-graduate studies while juggling with full-time work and family life is no walk in the park. Ever since embarking on this programme, I have become more disciplined and effective in managing my time.
