    About the Programme

An education grant of S$3,270 is available to local applicants for the 2027 intakes of this programme. Please contact our programme consultant for more information.

The Bachelor of Science Nursing (Top-up) is designed for post-registration nurses who hold a Nursing registration and valid Practising Certificate issued by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)1 and wish to progress from a Diploma qualification to a Bachelor's Degree.

This Nursing Degree enables registered nurses to enhance their professional knowledge, strengthen leadership competencies, and develop a deeper understanding of evidence-based healthcare practice.

You will acquire the skills needed to support workforce productivity, improve healthcare delivery, and contribute to addressing Singapore's growing demand for qualified nursing professionals.

Upon graduation, nurses will be well-positioned to pursue expanded responsibilities within the healthcare sector, champion health literacy initiatives, support multidisciplinary care teams, and lead improvements in clinical practice through evidence-based decision-making.

Why upgrade from a Diploma to a Nursing Degree?

A Nursing Degree can help registered nurses strengthen their clinical knowledge, develop leadership capabilities, and enhance their ability to contribute to evidence-based healthcare practices.

As Singapore's healthcare system continues to evolve, degree-qualified nurses are increasingly valued for their ability to support healthcare innovation, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary patient care.

For nurses seeking career progression, a Nursing Degree provides an opportunity to deepen professional expertise while preparing for expanded responsibilities within healthcare organisations.

Addressing Singapore's Growing Demand for Nurses

As Singapore's population continues to age, demand for healthcare services and qualified nursing professionals is expected to grow significantly.

Nurses form the largest professional group within Singapore's healthcare workforce, and the sector will require an estimated 24,000 additional nurses and healthcare staff by 2030 to support the nation's future healthcare needs3.

To strengthen the healthcare workforce, the Ministry of Health (MOH) is actively expanding nursing manpower while promoting innovation, productivity, and evidence-based healthcare practices.

These efforts aim to build a sustainable and resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the evolving needs of Singapore's population.

Develop the Skills to Advance Your Nursing Career

In response to these growing workforce demands, Northumbria University's Bachelor of Science Nursing (Top-up) programme has been designed to help registered nurses deepen their professional knowledge and develop the leadership capabilities needed in modern healthcare settings.

The programme places a strong emphasis on evidence-based nursing practice, critical thinking, healthcare innovation, and clinical leadership. Through a balanced combination of academic study and practical application, students gain the skills required to navigate complex healthcare environments, support patient-centred care, and contribute to continuous improvements in healthcare delivery.

Graduates will be equipped to play an active role in strengthening Singapore's healthcare system while supporting better patient outcomes across a diverse range of care settings.
