One graduate took a leap of faith to transition to a different field of study upon witnessing the impact of COVID-19 on the hospitality and tourism industry. Although she had to forego precious time with her family and friends, she felt her hard work and sacrifice ultimately paid off when she became Valedictorian.
Another graduate, despite having almost 10 years of experience as a lawyer, believes that he still has more to learn and gain. Inspired by the lecturers he met at Kaplan, he decided to join the team as an adjunct lecturer, hoping to guide and mentor the next generation of lawyers.

Despite holding a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, one graduates’s pursuit of knowledge is nowhere near being done. Determined to optimise his cancer research work as a Molecular Biologist, he enrolled in a Double Master’s programme with Murdoch University at Kaplan Singapore. By combining his work in molecular biology with his acquired knowledge in Business Administration and Information Technology, this graduate wishes to contribute towards innovative medical discoveries in his work as a scientist.

Seithi Mediacorp (14 Nov 2023) — Mr Siva proves that age is not a barrier to achieving educational dreams
At the ripe old age of 75, Mr Nadarajoo Sivanandan (Siva) was finally able to receive his long-awaited Diploma certificate up on stage at a graduation ceremony. Having left school for more than half a century, Mr Siva nearly gave up at the beginning of his Diploma in Legal Studies programme given the challenges he faced. However, Mr Siva pushed on with the support of his ex-colleague and classmates and managed to complete his studies in 2019.

Youthopia (27 Oct 2023) — A 25-year-old’s journey from a troubled youth to a counsellor-to-be
Having faced significant struggles as a result of being bullied in school and the passing of his beloved grandmother, one Kaplan graduate discovered the power of counselling. Despite his initial misgivings that counselling was a waste of time, his first-hand experiences proved to be otherwise. Deeply inspired by his own counsellors in junior college and Kaplan, he was determined to be professionally trained in counselling to help others who might benefit from counselling.

Newly-minted Miss Universe Singapore, Priyanka Annuncia, has a deep passion for criminal justice and the legal system which arose from her interest in true-crime documentaries and American crime dramas. With a conviction to bring about positive change in the field of human trafficking, Priyanka worked as a part-time private investigator while enrolled in the Bachelor of Business in Business Law and Criminology programme from Murdoch University at Kaplan Singapore.

Three graduates shared the different paths they took to reach academic excellence at Kaplan Singapore. One witnessed the struggles of her friends with mental health issues which sparked her interest to gain a deeper understanding of human behaviour and graduated with Honours for her Degree in Psychology. Another wanted to be a role model for his then 3-year-old son and completed his Degree in Banking and Finance with First Class Honours. A third graduate pursued a Degree in Law, an area that he has been fascinated with since young, to secure honours for his Degree in Law.

Kaplan Singapore and Engineering Good launched a partnership which will see Engineering Good train Kaplan staff and student volunteers to refurbish used electronic devices to benefit vulnerable communities as well as the environment. Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Ministry of Social and Family Development, graced the event and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and a cheque presentation ceremony.

Kaplan Singapore Graduate Employment Survey 2021/2022 revealed that 91% of Kaplan graduates who participated in the survey were employed within six months of completing their studies. Furthermore, 2022 also saw the highest median gross monthly salaries for Kaplan graduates from both full-time and part-time programmes.

One Kaplan student opened up about being cyberbullied 10 years ago which affected her mental health and well-being. Fortunately, with the help of her school counsellor, she found a safe space to voice her concerns. This experience inspired the student to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Marketing Degree offered by Murdoch University at Kaplan, so that she could be a listening ear for those in need, just like her school counsellor was for her.

As China reopens its international borders, private universities in Singapore anticipate more Chinese students enrolling. Furthermore, China students, who are currently residing in Singapore, look forward to returning home for the Lunar New Year. One Kaplan student shared that it had been three years since she last went home, and the reopening of borders has made it easier for her to return home to see her family.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, enrolment for international students by various schools in Singapore has either remained stable or increased. Dr Susie Khoo, President of Kaplan Singapore, was quoted as saying that Kaplan’s international student enrolment numbers remained stable and foresees an increase with the epidemic stabilising and border controls easing.
