I decided to further my studies by pursuing the Bachelor of Science Nursing (Top-up) programme to enhance my career prospects and provide my patients with better knowledge and care. Modules such as ‘Research as Evidence for Nursing Practice’ and ‘Leading and Developing Practice’ have deepened my understanding of nursing theories, practices, and research, enabling me to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
The programme has sharpened my critical thinking and problem-solving skills, allowing me to handle difficult situations with greater tact and deliver more effective care. In particular, the ‘Research as Evidence for Nursing Practice’ module introduced me to evidence-based practices and taught me to apply research findings in my clinical work.
My lecturers have been incredibly motivating throughout my journey, constantly ensuring that we understood what was taught. They are approachable, and no matter how many questions we ask, they always address our queries with patience and a smile. I would recommend this programme from Northumbria University as the lessons are conducted in a conducive learning environment with friendly, knowledgeable lecturers who are always willing to help.

It has always been a personal goal of mine to complete my Degree, but due to family commitments, I kept putting it off. Now that my children are older and more independent, my desire to pursue higher education has been reignited.
After researching various programmes, I found Northumbria University’s schedule to be the most suitable for my needs as a working nurse, while giving me ample time to prepare for my assignments. This programme has been instrumental in my growth as a nurse. Previously, I would share information with patients and their families based on general understanding or hearsay. Now with the knowledge I have gained, I can confidently provide evidence-based explanations, enhancing the level of care I offer.
