About the Programme
An education grant of S$2,180 is available to local applicants for the June 2024 intake of this programme. Please contact our Programme Consultant for more information.
Master big data methodologies and find the valuable trends and patterns buried in complex datasets using machine learning. In this Master of Science Data Analytics programme, you will learn how to use data mining tools, machine learning methods and big data concepts as you unlock specialised knowledge of professional analysis methods.
You will apply your theoretical learning to handling real data and analysing large data.
You will plan, design and produce an in-depth research project, using analytics packages like Hadoop, KNIME, PostgreSQL, Python and Tableau. We will provide the expertise and support so you can develop your dissertation and shape your professional practice. Once you graduate, you will have a skill set that will get you noticed and all the tools you need to progress your career in data analytics or deep learning.
Graduation & Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete and pass the modules stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Master of Science Data Analytics from University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
The Master’s Degree will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in the United Kingdom.

Admission CriteriaAcademic Requirements
- A Second-Class Honours equivalent Degree (2.7 GPA) in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications.
- Equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will also be considered, such as previous study, employment, voluntary work and training courses, including courses and qualifications you did not complete. Learn more about our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
In all cases, the final admissions decision to the programme rests with the University.
English Language Requirements- GCE O-Level English language subject (Grade C6 and above); OR
- IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

Working Experience- When required, work experience will be applied as part of the admissions process. Applicants seeking recognition of experiential learning are required to provide a portfolio of evidence in accordance with the University's Recognition of Prior Learning policies and practices. Any work experience assessment and related admissions decisions will be conducted by the University and will, where appropriate, lead to the recognition of the achievement of learning outcomes and the award of University Credit.
